Celebration of the Word

At Holy Rosary and St Annes, we celebrate the Word of God in a variety of meaningful ways throughout the week.

Every Monday morning, the whole school gathers for a Celebration of the Word, setting the tone for the week ahead.

On Thursdays, all staff lead reflections based on virtues, helping children to connect gospel values with daily life.

One Mark 10 Mission resource is used each week to engage pupils with scripture in a creative and accessible way.

On the remaining days, celebrations follow the liturgical year, supported by resources from Pat Ainge, ensuring our worship remains rooted in the Church's calendar. Older students take responsibility for planning and leading class-based Celebrations of the Word, while younger children contribute in age-appropriate ways throughout the week.

Prayer

Prayer is a central part of daily life in our Catholic school, helping to nurture a personal and communal relationship with God.

Each day begins with a morning blessing and includes grace before and after meals, as well as a prayer at the end of the day. Children regularly pray the Our Father and Hail Mary, and are given opportunities for personal reflection, including offering their own bidding prayers or remembering absent friends.

We have a prayer intentions spot in the front entrance where the school community can leave their prayers, and a dedicated prayer garden in a quiet area of the playground where children can go for peaceful reflection and connection with God.

Prayer is woven through all aspects of school life, encouraging children to grow in faith and love.
